What a paper wedding card really costs, including postage

A hundred paper wedding cards cost between € 240 and € 440 together in printing and postage: € 100 to € 300 in printing, depending on paper type and finish, plus € 140 in stamps at the current PostNL rate of € 1.40 each.

This amount is often underestimated in advance, because printers only quote the price per card and postage comes on top separately. Below the two cost items separately, with source and date.

The two cost items: printing and postage

Printing. A wedding card costs on average between € 1 and € 3 each, depending on paper type and finish. For a hundred cards that is € 100 to € 300. More luxurious finishes, such as foil printing, can go up to € 4 or € 5 per card.

Postage. A stamp for domestic mail up to 20 grams has cost € 1.40 each since 1 January 2026. For a hundred cards that is € 140 in stamps alone, on top of the printing.

Together, then, between € 240 and € 440 for a hundred guests.

What determines the printing price

Three things determine where you end up in the € 100 to € 300 range: the paper (standard paper is cheaper than thick, cotton or textured paper), the finish (foil printing and other special techniques are more expensive than ordinary printing), and the print run (the more cards, the lower the price per card).

What can come on top

Envelopes are often priced separately from the card itself. Many couples also order separate save the date cards, on which another € 91 or so is spent on average, and possibly RSVP cards or thank-you cards afterwards. Sending abroad costs more postage than the domestic € 1.40. Counted over all printed matter around a wedding together, couples spend on average between € 350 and € 500.

How this compares with a digital wedding invitation

Invitesly costs € 99 one-off, with no guest limit, and that amount does not change with the number of guests. Paper has a value of its own: it is tangible and stays in a drawer in a way a link does not. But purely on cost, almost every digital wedding invitation, Invitesly included, comes in well below what a hundred paper cards cost.
